The days and weeks progress, transitioning from deep, quiet winter, toward spring, with unseen, yet developing readiness for the surge of growth that is the burgeoning of spring. So, too, my creative life is transitioning from potential to action.
I have started a new business, BeWell Bohemia Herbs and Things, which I will delve into in a future post.

For today - allow me to share my most recent publication. If You Dare Look, novella length book that makes a exploration of Medusa through her own voice, juxtaposed against a chorus. Medusa tells her story, and confronts misconceptions. Her story is an exploration of both her identity  and the perceptions others project upon her. How do we define ours self worth? Who defines our expectations, limits, and posibilities? These questions are among those considered in this powerful tale.

The story started in 2015 as a segment of a Medusa themed performance piece my friend Amy compiled and directed for Eastern Michigan University. The idea was to bring together various new works each exploring the Medusa mythos. Who was Medusa? Monster or maligned hero?  Villain or villified? What informed her identity? How did she interact with others? The world? Was her fate of her choosing or unavoidable?

The mythos of Medusa is a space rich with possibility and  many folks wrote pieces to contribute. My piece served as the main through line of the first act. Seeing my writing performed in front of an audience of hundreds of folks - wonderful.

I spent energy and attention developing the initial piece into something more, eventually crafting the If You Dare Look novella now available in ebook and print. I am proud of the piece, and hope you read it. Be aware the work explores the interaction between Poseidon and Medusa as an incidence of sexual violence, and therefore the piece is for mature audiences only.
