An email encouraged me to think of three good things that happened today:
1. my nieces chair was fixed making her safer and more smoothly mobile
2. I saw my sister and shared a hug
3. I got my morning work tasks done efficiently and effectively.
These are the first experiences that came to mind.
The email encouraged adding details -
1. We were at the repair shop - we arrived early and they took us in to service early. We had a comfy space in which to wait and she used the padded bench to do some exercises - sitting up successfully on her own from prone position. She was determined to do it and proud of herself when she did.
"Can we have one of these benches at home?" Absolutely! Now on a quest to find and install one.
I felt not much at all, actually, in the moment - just 'task accomplished' But looking back it is a big deal to keep her chair in best repair and I am proud to be a part of her world, even in mundane tasks.
2. My sister came over before going fun shopping with my niece. My sister is returned from a week at the beach and full of vacation energy and stories.
We exchanged a hug and I complimented her on her hairstyle. She is looking healthy and happy and that brings me joy.
I decided a hug was in order, and that we all need more hugs in general. I am glad I took the initiative and shared greetings of 'glad to connect.'
3. I thought the repair appointment was an hour earlier than it was, so when we delayed departure to align with actual appointment time I sat down to a focused 45 minutes of work - moving through each task on my tablet with ease now that I added a portable keyboard yesterday. I felt satisfied with my work and ready for the next phase of the day with less stress.
I felt pleased and satisfied in the moment and grateful for focused time and alert thinking.
