Wellness for the concussed
My dear niece is a smart, strong, active, adventurous spirit. She diligently dedicates herself to school, and actively engages in a variety of extra-curricular activities. She plays soccer, likes to run, builds robots, is a scout, and countless other awesome stuff.
However, she recently suffered a concussion. Now, she must curtail her activities. At thirteen, having to cease school activities is a real bummer! Having to pace herself and rest often is a drag, and hard to commit to.
Hang in there, Lady! Take care of yourself, even if it is hard. Cruise at idle speed, and heal well and fully.
The Mayo Clinic website states, "Rest is the most appropriate way to allow your brain to recover from a concussion. Your doctor will recommend that you physically and mentally rest to recover from a concussion."
If you want to learn more about what the Mayo Clinic reports about signs, symptoms, diagnosis tests, and treatment for concussions, check out this link: http://www.mayoclinic.org/diseases-conditions/concussion/diagnosis-treatment/drc-20355600
If you are not sure what the big deal about concussions is anyway, you can also check out the handy table of symptoms on the CDC website.
The CDC (Center for Disease Control) also offers advice for healing from a concussion.
