Scavenger hunt
I spent the morning idly browsing the myriad of treasures hidden amidst mundane items displayed at estate, yard, and garage sales. I relish the look into the lives of others possible only at rummage type sales. The estate sale affords the most intimate glimpse, as I am able to wander through the house, as is I entered a still life of a typical moment. I do carry the weight of loss an estate sale implies - often an elder has moved into assisted living or 'sloughed the mortal coil', so my voyeurism is tinged with regret. However, I balance that with the thought that I am helping the family maneuver through the process, so I allow the sense of loss to drift off; accepting the curiosity and exploration to take its place.
Yard and garage sales carry no such affiliation; they represent the natural ebb and flow of material goods we humans cycle through.
I found some random goodies, unneeded but bought. I will, I am sure, eventually donate them on to another sale and happy recipient.
