Spoke with my Mom briefly today - the standard call to let her know I am thinking of her, give her someone to talk to, and check on her blood sugar level (eat? insulin?). My goal is an am call and a just before bed call... which I have been consistently achieving since my recent visit home.
Mom seems both pleased with the calls, and the reporting. She proudly states, "my sugar was 180 this morning. I ate breakfast and took my insulin."
We talk about other stuff too. The calls last from 8 minutes to 38 minutes, averaging about 20.
I am pleased she finds the routine affirming and supportive.
