Up with the sun

I awoke just as the sky was beginning to light, but the sun had yet to crest the horizon.

The smell of the air so fresh and invigorating! I stepped into the yard to bask in the dawn, rewarded with a glimpse of the sliver of moon hanging in the sky, recently risen itself, to lead the sun across the sky.  A planet, Venus? hung quietly and brightly just below and slightly to the side of the moon.  As the light brightened the moon disappeared.
